Our aim is to encourage all children at St. Edmund’s to be physically active and to develop life-long habits. We hope that they will enjoy their PE lessons while developing the practical and personal skills they need to participate in sport.

In Early Years, PE is part of Physical Development, a prime area of the Early Years Curriculum. Children in Nursery and Reception receive regular adult directed PE lessons but are also given the opportunity to develop and practise their skills as part of their continuous provision, through their play and also during our Forest School sessions.

From Year 1 upwards, children are taught PE twice a week and are able to experience a wide variety of sports, while developing their skills. The majority of these sessions are taught by specialist coaches provided by WR Sports.
