Headteacher’s Welcome
Welcome to St. Edmund’s Catholic Primary School. We, headteacher, staff, governors and pupils, are all proud of our school. As Ofsted noted in January 2020 “pupils are thriving” at our school. We hope that you and your child will find this web site interesting and informative and that you will enjoy learning about our school and our aims.
At St Edmund’s we believe that parents are the first and most important educators of their children. The staff and governors of St. Edmund’s School, therefore foster and encourage an open and supportive partnership between home, school and parish so that together we can help each child to develop in a happy, secure and caring atmosphere.
St. Edmund’s School aims to provide an inclusive community where everyone is valued for their own individual talents and personality. One pupil told our Ofsted inspector: ‘New people settle in well and there is a warm welcome for everyone’. We work hard to foster a secure and stimulating environment which excites, challenges and motivates each child, enabling them to reach their full potential. We provide a school where children, staff, parents and community can come together to learn, to share and to grow in the spirit of Christianity.
I am proud to be the Headteacher of our good school where “pupils enjoy lessons and leave school with a love of learning” and where ‘pupils know the unique worth of their Catholic education’ Ofsted January 2020. It is our children who make St. Edmund’s a special place, and I am proud of all of their achievements. As our RE inspector noted during our RE inspection in March 2020: Pupils are very proud of their school. They describe the school as being a place ‘that helps us change our ways and be like a disciple of Jesus. I feel special and valued’.
I know that together we can provide the very best for each and every one of our St Edmund’s pupils.
Please do consider coming to visit us at St. Edmund’s School and see what we can offer you and your child. I look forward to welcoming you,
Mrs Erika Kirwan
