School Admissions

School Visits

Prospective parents are very welcome to visit our school.  We are happy to organise tours of the school during or after the school day, and we hold an Open Morning for families who are interested in our Reception Class each November.  Please contact the school office to find out more.

Admission Into Reception Class

Each year, we admit up to 30 children to our Reception Class.  Children start school in the September after their 4th birthday.

You can apply for a school place through the Oxfordshire County Council website.  To ensure that you get your choice of school, you should apply before the deadline, which is 15th January in the year that your child will start school.  You should also complete our supplementary information form (- see attachment below), and return it to the school office along with any supporting evidence.  This is especially important if your child is a baptised Catholic, as this will mean that your child is prioritised for a place.

Places are allocated according to the criteria laid out in our admissions policy, and school places are announced on 16th April each year.

Our admissions policy prioritises baptised Catholics, but each year we welcome families of all faiths and none, so please apply for a place with us if you feel that we are the right school for your child.

A booklet, “Starting School” is available for collection in Oxfordshire Primary and Infant Schools or from the Admissions Team in Oxfordshire County Council.  You can apply for a school place using the form in the booklet if you prefer.

Please remember that you must apply for a school place even if you already attend our Nursery.

In Year Applications

We are very happy to admit children to the school at any stage of their primary education if we have places available.  Please contact the School Office to make an appointment to meet our Business Manager Mrs Lomas and the Headteacher, Mrs Kirwan and tour our school – see the “Contact Us” link in the top navigation tool bar.  Applications should be made through Oxfordshire County Council.  Where there are places available but more applications than places, the published oversubscription criteria, as set out in the admission arrangements for the current academic year, will be applied.  Parents are advised to read the admission arrangements carefully before making their application. If there are no places available, the child will be added to the waiting list.  Please see the admission arrangements for more details. You will be advised of the outcome of your application in writing as soon as possible.  Applicants must be informed of the outcome of their application within 15 school days of receipt, but the aim is to notify applicants of the outcome of their application within 10 school days of receipt. In-year applications are dealt with by 31 August at the latest each year. You have the right to appeal to an independent appeal panel if your application is unsuccessful. If you have any questions in relation to in-year admissions please contact our School Business Manager, Mrs Caroline Lomas, via the school office. You may also wish to discuss in-year applications with the local authority.

Appeals

You have the right of appeal to a local appeals committee if your application for a place for your child is refused by the LEA.  Details of how to do this will be sent at the time of notification of places.
